Digital Transformation Sends a Technical Team
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Trinidad and Tobago sends a technical team to MeitY, GoI at Electronics Niketan in New Delhi.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation, Trinidad and Tobago, sent a technical mission to Electronics Niketan, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India. Mr Hassel Bacchus, Minister of Digital Transformation, led the delegation, which also included Dr Roger Gopaul, High Commissioner, Ms. Jacqueline Wilson, Chief Digital Transformation Advisor, Shri Devindra Ramnarine, Senior Digital Transformation Advisor, Mr Christopher John, Senior Project Manager, and Ms. Danielle Seunarine, Associate Professional.
Singh, P&CEO of NeGD, and Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary of MeitY, as well as important executives from MeitY, MEA, NeGD, UIDAI, and NPCI-NIPL. Mr. Abhishek Singh emphasized India Stack Solutions in his welcome remarks, particularly Digital Public Infrastructure and key building blocks such as Aadhaar (Digital Identity) and DigiLocker. Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, MeitY, Shri Abhishek & API Setu (Data Exchange), and UPI (Digital Payment) represented India.
In his remarks, Mr Hassel Bacchus, Hon'ble Minister of Digital Transformation for Trinidad and Tobago, stated that digital transformation is a critical facilitator for sustainable development goals, influencing people, processes, and technologies. He also expressed a desire to understand India's digital journey, the India Stack, the DPI Ecosystem, and the foundation for India's digital transformation. He also mentioned that Trinidad and Tobago wishes to learn from India and share their experiences with the Caribbean region...
In his speech, Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma discussed Digital India, its goal of digitally transforming the country, and its contribution to digital inclusion, financial inclusion, participatory governance, and enhanced transparency in governance. He covered the deployment of several digital programs for the comfort of living and doing business (including Jan Dhan, Direct Benefit Transfer, GeM, Co-Win, E-Sanjeevani, DIKSHA, and others). He also mentioned India Stack Global, which makes 15 India Stack solutions available to countries that are interested. He also hinted that the two countries would sign a Memorandum of Understanding on digital cooperation.Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY, congratulated the delegations and participants in his closing comments. He stated that the delegation will also visit CDAC for high-end technology development and NIELIT for research.Following that, three in-depth workshops on Digital Identity, Data Exchange, and Digital Payment were scheduled. Presentations and demonstrations were given by top personnel from UIDAI, NeGD, and NPCI-NIPL during these sessions. The discussion concluded on a good note, with DigiLocker identified as low hanging fruit that can be implemented in a relatively short period of time.
More than ten Digital India initiatives were displayed and discussed to delegates via kiosks in the Centre for E-Governance Conference Hall at Electronics Niketan in New Delhi.
