President’s Colours’ Award  to Tamil Nadu Police

 The chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K Stalin  received President’s Colour to  Tamil Nadu Police on the event which was held on Rajarathinam Stadium in Chennai. The President’s Colours’ was given by M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India.

 The Tamil Nadu police is the only police force among the police forces in the country to receive the  President’s colours’  award

Presidents Colour was approved to Tamil Nadu police force on 19th August 2009, but to took long years to present it.

To honour this achievement, each police officer in the service would given a medal.

it is also noted that Tamil Nadu is the home for India’s first women commando unit.

President’s Colour Award

The Predsidents Colour Award is the highest honour that can be presented to any military unit in India.

 It is also defined as “Nishaan” which is an emblem that is worn by all police force on the left-hand sleeve of their uniform.

earlier this colour was worn during battles, but now it has been removed.

however the tradition of  receiving and holding this colour still continues in the armed forces of India.
