Monitoring The Water Supply Under Jal Jeevan Mission

The Government of India has decided to provide smart rural water supply system under Jal Jeevan Mission, Digital India, Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and Make in India. The Jal Jeevan Mission is being activated in the country with the aim of providing purified and clean tap water connection to every rural household by 2024. Under this program,  55 liters of water is to be provided per day on a long- term basis.

 Highlights:

The  measurement and monitoring is to be conducted through Paani Samiti.

What is a Paani Samiti?

The Jal Jeevan Mission has been implemented under the National level, state level, district level, and village level committees. The Paani Samiti is one of the operating at village level or Gram Panchayat level. It consists of about 10-15 members.

25% of this committee shall be from elected members of Panchayat, 50% should be women and 25% may consist of members from weaker sections of the village.
