Ministry of Railways has confirmed 151 trains to be run by private operators

Ministry of Railways planning to launch 51 trains to be run by private operators in the country after the selection process is over. 

Ministry of Railways has invited request for qualifications (RFQ) for private participation for the operation of trains, the passenger services over 109 origin-destination (OD) pairs of routes through the introduction of 151 modern trains.

The project would entail a private sector investment of about ₹30,000 crores.

These trains will run only the routes where is a high demand for trains higher than the existing capacity.

The driver and goods of the train will be railway officials and safety clearance will be taking care of by railways.
