The union cabinet has given node to extend the Pradhan Mantra Garib Kalian Anna Yojana till November to provide five kilograms of wheat or rice to every member of the beneficiary family for five more months.

Its benefits to the poor and struggling families during the covid19 crisis. Distribution of free ration under the PMGKAY would be costing 1.49 lakh crore and  

81 Crore beneficiaries covered under National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA).

The ration is being provided to poor and vulnerable families/beneficiaries are able to access food-grains easily without facing any financial distress.
