ISRO Captures the mysterious moon of mars, Phobos
Key Points:
The Mars color camera (MCC) onboard Isro’s Mars orbiter mission has captured the image of Phobos, the closest and biggest moon of mars.
The MOM was away about 7200 km from mars and 4200 km from Phobos.
Isro said, Phobos is the biggest moon of mars and it captured an image with a spatial resolution 210 m.
This is a composite image generated from 6 Mars Coloured Camera frames and has been color corrected.
MOM mars orbiter mission was successfully placed its spacecraft in orbit around the red planet on 24th September 2014.
MOM was the Rupeed 450 crore mission launched successfully with the aim of studying the martian surface and mineral composition as well as to monitor the atmosphere for methane.
The Mars Orbiter has five scientific instruments - Lyman Alpha photometer (LAP), Methane Sensor for Mars (MSM), Mars Exospheric Neutral Composition analyzer (MENCA), Mars color camera (MCC) and Thermal infrared imaging spectrometer (TIS)
